Humberto Carrillo def. Arturo Ruas
Ruas has been with WWE for some time now and is still doing a BJJ-inspired gimmick. He's shown signs of improvement in the few times I've seen him in action, but he's basically a jobber to the stars at this point as there has been zero indication that they intend on pushing him any time soon. This was well wrestled while it lasted, both guys looked good, and Carrillo won as he should have.
Riddick Moss def. Mustafa Ali
Well, that was fast. Ali returned on Raw two weeks ago and yet he's already been relegated to Main Event. Obviously, it could have been a one-off, but the fact he lost to Riddick Moss of all people here doesn't give me much hope in regards to his booking going forward. And, no, that's not a typo, Moss actually did beat Ali clean. The match was fine and Ali tried his best, but Moss screams mediocre. I guess it's a good thing he's been winning consistently and isn't falling victim to 50/50 booking, but it's a shame he isn't worth the effort the company is putting into him. Ali, on the other hand, absolutely is and deserves better.
I believe this marked Ali's first appearance on Main Event in several years, but it's unfortunate it involved him losing to Riddick Moss. Their match was fine but nothing out of the ordinary. Carrillo vs. Ruas was a bit better, but there's no need to seek either of them out. On the bright side, both bouts were fresh and have never been done before, so at least there was that.
