T-Bar def. Sal SergioIt isn't often WWE uses "local athletes" on Main Event, but I assume WWE had no choice this week considering the vast amount of talent that had to miss the Monday's TV taping due to COVID. It's also rare T-Bar is booked to win, so that was nice to see. I don't believe I've ever seen Sal Sergio before, but he sold well for T-Bar's offense. This essentially served as a showcase for T-Bar, though i don't get the feeling WWE intends to build him up for anything significant. Rather, he's just there to lose to more important members of the roster. On the bright side, at least he's actually wrestling weekly unlike his former tag team partner Mace who we haven't seen since the Draft in October. Veer Mahaan def. Shelton BenjaminThis has not been a good week for The Hurt Business. First, Cedric Alexander lost to Kevin Owens in a matter of minutes on Monday's Raw. Here, Benjamin lost to Mahaan, who is apparently still coming to Raw even though it's almost three months since those vignettes started. It's comical at this point and I'm sure the company is aware of that. The Raw roster is down quite a few people at the moment, so that show on Monday could have used him. Nonetheless, he and Benjamin beat the hell out of each other in this bout. It certainly wasn't pretty and there were a few spots that looked sloppy, but its physical nature added to my enjoyment of it. The crowd not having any incentive to cheer either guy because they're heels didn't help, but Mahaan keeps rolling through his opponents. Overall ShowWe don't get a ton of squashes on Main Event and I appreciate that the show gives us competitive matches more often than not, but when a squash is done right, it can effective as T-Bar vs. Sergio was. Granted, I don't at all expect it to lead to anything for him, but it was refreshing to see him not looking up at the lights for a change. It was arguably better than Mahaan vs. Benjamin, which had its moments but was far from smooth. It was a mixed bag of a show that was hurt by the lack of highlights from Monday's Raw. If nothing else, both bouts were fresh, so this edition of Main Event did have that going for it.
