Dana Brooke def. Peyton Royce
With Lacey Evans focusing on the Flair family, does that mean her team with Royce is no more? Hey, I'm not complaining because Royce is much better off on her own and they never had chemistry together. Unfortunately, she's back to pulling to Main Event duty losing to Dana Brooke. Why can't she just be pushed as a singles star? Brooke has been around for years and still isn't where she should be in the ring. This was a passable match, but I thought Brooke winning was the wrong result.
Ricochet def. Humberto Carrillo
As expected, this was a very fun match from two of Raw's most talented and underutilized athletes. Carrillo's character work obviously needs improvement, but there's no reason why Ricochet can't be in a regular role on Raw right now. Then again, he was a few months ago and it was a dead-end feud with RETRIBUTION that had no payoff, so I guess be careful what you wish for. At least he's having entertaining matches on Main Event with guys like Carrillo and this was a blast of a bout. It could have been even better with more time, but I enjoyed this while it lasted.
This was a mixed bag edition of Main Event. It was nice to have a women's match for a change, but it isn't worth going out of your way to see, and Royce losing to Brooke of all people was depressing. On the bright side, Ricochet vs. Carrillo picked up the pace and was an exciting affair, even though it didn't last long. The uptick in Raw's quality in the last two weeks has made the Raw replays on this show more bearable, but as always, feel free to skip right over those as I do. Most things from Raw only need to be consumed once.
