The Shield def. Sin Cara and Los Matadores

Similar to their match against The Wyatt Family last week on Main Event, Sin Cara and Los Matadores had an impressive showing here despite it being obvious that it was a glorified squash match from the get-go. The match went longer than it probably should have, but it was still good action from bell-to-bell. The final few minutes were fun and it was another nice momentum booster for The Shield going into Elimination Chamber.

Cameron def. Aksana

I found it funny that the video package they aired prior to the bout highlighting Cameron was longer than most Divas matches. Speaking of such, I have a feeling that video package was done to build Cameron up as a challenger to the Divas Championship with Naomi out of action at the moment, possibly as soon as Elimination Chamber on Sunday. The match had a story behind it with Aksana being the one who injured Naomi, so at least it wasn't completely meaningless. Cameron has improved in the ring as of late to the point where her matches aren't intolerable to watch, so this contest was fine for what it was.

These two always work well together, and this match was no different, but it is hard for the fans to care about any of their encounters when neither of them mean anything at the moment. Ryback and Mark Henry tried their best at ringside to get the crowd engaged, but it might have been too little too late at that point. Nonetheless, it was a nice match down the stretch. If Axel and Ryback are going to be in a tag team match against the Rhodes brothers on Sunday, why not just face one of them, or at least beat Kingston? That didn't make much sense.

Overall Show

Main Event has never been about building toward a pay-per-view, but at least it attempted to with this show. The Shield's match in the opener hyped their upcoming match against The Wyatt Family while Axel vs. Kingston just barely built toward the Kickoff match, even if what transpired in that match was random (are Kingston and Henry a team now?). The brief promo from Bad News Barrett didn't bother me if only because it was the same garbage we always see anyway. It was a harmless hour of wrestling, but nothing worth going back and watching if you missed it.
