The Prime Time Players and The Usos def. Tyler Breeze and The Cosmic Wasteland

It's been a few months since we last saw The Prime Time Players team up, so it was cool to see them together again. It also made sense, too, because Titus O'Neil and Darren Young have had matches against Stardust and Breeze recently while The Usos have also faced The Ascension. We don't usually get these type of matches on Main Event, so the eight-man tag team bout was a pleasant treat. Everyone held their own and put forth a commendable effort. The finishing sequence was especially fun and it opened the show on a nice note.

Jack Swagger def. Fandango

Coming off the fresh tag team match, we were stuck with more of the same between Swagger and Fandango. This wasn't at all a bad match, but I just feel like we have seen it countless times before, and as a result, I couldn't have cared less about it. Both Swagger and Fandango are good athletes, but neither of them interest me in the slightest at the moment. I'm not sure who the crowd was supposed to cheer for with both of them babyfaces, but thankfully, this didn't last long.

Team B.A.D. def. Natalya and Paige

I really liked how they set this match up with the pre-match backstage promo from Naomi and Tamina establishing their split from Sasha Banks. The Boss was the only thing that made them remotely interesting while they were together, so we'll see how they fare without her. This was a pretty paint-by-numbers tag team match, but they received decent time and made the most of it. Team B.A.D. scoring the win was the right move as they presumably feud with Banks and possibly Becky Lynch in the near future, while Paige and Natalya aren't even a regular team. Why are they friends again?

Overall Show

This edition of Main Event was a mixed bag. The opening eight-man tag team match was a breath of fresh air and worth checking out simply because it was enjoyable, but the rest of the show wasn't anything special. Swagger vs. Fandango was more or less a waste, but at least the women's match was well-wrestled and had storyline significance for Team B.A.D. after what transpired on Monday's Raw.
