WWE Main Event Review - February 3, 2022

Veer Mahaan def. Akira Tozawa

For anyone claiming that Veer has finally arrived after months of coming (and yes, I phrased it that way intentionally), he didn't. The vignettes indicated he was coming to Raw, not Main Event. After all, he's wrestled on Main Event a few times in recent months, so this wasn't anything new. That said, I fully believe the reports that WWE have zero plans for this man. Otherwise, he would've made his singles debut on Raw by now. He's decent enough, so I don't see why they don't give him a shot, but they've already killed his career by making him a punchline rather than someone to take seriously. This was a total squash, but the crowd couldn't have cared less.

Liv Morgan def. Doudrop

Both of these women are coming off strong showings at the Royal Rumble: Morgan in the women's Rumble and Doudrop against Becky Lynch for the Raw Women's Championship. They've had their shots at the title and failed, but I applaud WWE for even putting them in that spot to begin with. I believe this marked their first-ever one-on-one encounter and it was enjoyable. They worked well together and the crowd was very much behind Morgan. I hope neither of them end up getting forgotten on the road to WrestleMania 38, but I fear that will be the case, at least with one of them.

Overall Show

Mahann making an appearance was somewhat notable, though I think there's a chance he gets released before he ever makes it to Raw. I hope that doesn't happen, but you never know with this company. That was a straightforward squash, while Morgan vs. Doudrop was a much better bout and they made good use of the time they had. All in all, it was a solid show. This was the first edition of Main Event in a few weeks to not feature any NXT talent, but it was still perfectly passable.
