By Graham "GSM" Matthews Mark Henry and Jack Swagger def. The Ascension I'm honestly curious as to whether WWE believes they having different viewing audiences for Superstars and Main Event. More often than not, they'll do a match on one show one week and then do a rematch on the other the next. And by rematch I mean an exact repeat of the previous bout. That's essentially what this was since we saw these two teams clash just last week on Superstars. It was fine albeit formulaic for what it was, but if nothing else, it did serve a purpose given they'll be a part of a Fatal 4-Way tag team match on the Royal Rumble Kickoff show to determine which two competitors will be in the Rumble match. Neville def. Tyler Breeze I always thought this would be a fun feud down in NXT simply based off the "pretty boy vs. uggo" dynamic they could have had. That said, there's no purpose in doing it now since it wouldn't benefit either of them where they currently are on the card. This wasn't one of their better outings as they didn't seem to gel as well as they have in the past for whatever reason. Breeze continues to flounder for reasons unbeknownst to me. The Social Outcasts def. The Dudley Boyz
I've defended The Dudleyz in the past as being more than solely a nostalgia act, and I'm all for them putting over the next generation of tag teams, but there's not much I can say when they lose to The Social Outcasts on Main Event. At this point, they'll need a ton of momentum in order to be considered serious threats to the WWE Tag Team Championship again, which is weird saying in regards to one of the greatest teams of all-time. As for the match itself, it was entertaining, largely due to The Social Outcasts' humorous antics. Overall Show Perhaps WWE was motivated to put forth a better edition of Main Event than usual with the Royal Rumble being a few days away. None of the three matches blew me away, granted, but each of them felt like a fresh of fresh air. We don't see Neville vs. Breeze too often and although it didn't live up to its full potential, it was fun while it lasted. The main event tag team match was solid and even the opener was decent, so it's a pretty passable hour of wrestling on the whole.
