Riddick Moss def. Akira Tozawa
Moss is definitely better in the heel role, whereas Tozawa does well as an underdog babyface. The problem is that crowds currently don't have a reason to care about Moss, so the reaction was mostly flat. It was a perfectly fine match for what it was, but there was nothing remotely interesting about it. By the way, whatever happened to Moss and Emma accompanying each other to ringside?
Apollo Crews def. JD McDonagh
This was the rubber match between the two on Main Event, and I appreciate that they showed footage of their past encounters beforehand. The fact it could have gone either way helped, along with just how strong their in-ring chemistry has become. They even got the crowd into it by the second half, so this turned into a damn good match. As I've said before, I wish we could see more of them on Raw as they've largely been relegated to Main Event since being drafted from NXT a few months ago.
This felt your average edition of Main Event featuring guys that have been absent from Raw for months and likely won't be featured any time soon. It's a shame, especially for Crews and McDonagh, but at least they're making the most of their opportunities on Main Event. Moss vs. Tozawa was a basic bout while it lasted, but I once again enjoyed Crews vs. McDonagh and thought they had a match worth checking out by Main Event standards.
