WWE Main Event Review - June 17, 2021

T-Bar and Mace def. The Lucha House Party

This was a rematch from a recent Raw match these teams had. I still hate the Ascension-esque looks that T-Bar and Mace have along with the dumb names. That said, I don't hate the idea of them teaming together, just because it gives them something to do as I'm sure they'd be lost in the shuffle on their own. this was a fairly basic bout with Lucha House Party fighting from underneath and using their speed to their advantage throughout only to fall short in the end.

Ricochet def. Drew Gulak

Ricochet is currently involved in the United States Championship picture along with Sheamus and Humberto Carrillo, so you knew there was no way he was losing here. However, I was surprised by how much of this Gulak was on offense for. I mean, he dominated a majority of the match. It wasn't your typical Ricochet match, but that was what I liked about it, and Gulak got to look good. Ricochet winning with a submission move for a change was a nice touch.

Overall Show

It was a slight change of pace for Main Event this week with neither match being anything too exciting, but both were solid for different reasons. We don't get many tag team matches on this show these days, so seeing the men's tag division get some shine was nice even though it wasn't a barnburner of a bout. Meanwhile, Ricochet vs. Gulak was much more mat-based than I was expecting, but they made effective use of their time and I appreciated them switching it up, if nothing else.
