Tony Nese def. Gran Metalik
Vic Joseph noted on commentary that these two were among the first few competitors to join the early incarnation of WWE's Cruiserweight division back in 2016, which blows my mind. It was a totally different division back then than it is now. Nevertheless, this was a fun little match while it lasted with good work from both guys. I was surprised Nese went over if only because the Lucha House Party is more of a staple on 205 Live these days than Nese is.
The Authors of Pain def. Breezango
Reportedly, Authors of Pain have been off TV recently because of a visa issue they were dealing with, but they have been ready to go for a little bit now and they still aren't on Raw. It's a shame because they are one of the better teams the Raw tag team division has to offer at the moment. Nevertheless, this was a glorified squash with Authors of Pain completely dominating Breezango. I just wish this could have aired on Raw to remind viewers they haven't been released.
Raw didn't do much for me on Monday night, but they did relay the key highlights, and then the Gauntlet match from SmackDown Live was just great. As for the two featured matches on this episode, they were fairly decent. The Cruiserweights made the most of the time they had and the tag team matchup was exactly what it needed to be. All in all, this was an average edition of Main Event.
