WWE Main Event Review - June 2, 2022

R-Truth def. T-Bar

Seeing T-Bar involved in the 24/7 Championship crap on Monday's Raw made me sad because he's basically back to being Dominik Dijakovic at this point now that he's ditched the dumb face paint. All he needs to complete the transformation is his old name and music, but even if he was Dominik Dijakovic again, he'd still probably be relegated to Main Event. As for Truth, we don't see him in formal matches much nowadays, but this was decent where the crowd was behind Truth throughout. Truth winning with John Cena's patented Attitude Adjustment was a funny touch.

Apollo Crews def. Akira Tozawa

This was a rematch from a few weeks ago. Crews went at it alone this time without Commander Azeez in his corner. These two obviously work well together and have had great chemistry for years, so this was as enjoyable as their original encounter on Main Event. Unfortunately, both guys are heels (I think?), and thus since the crowd has zero incentive to care about either guy right now, they had no incentive to care about this, either. It was another nice sprint from them.

Overall Show

I'd say this was a very "Main Event" edition of Main Event with the usual suspects being featured, but neither match was bad by any means. I died a little bit on the inside when T-Bar lost to Truth, but I don't expect anything different at this point and the crowd was very much into Truth. Meanwhile, Crews vs. Tozawa once again made the most of the time they had, making for a perfectly passable show on the whole.
