The Lucha Dragons def. The Ascension
These two teams have had no less than one million matches against each other in the past two years (okay, I'm exaggerating), but at the same time, they've worked together so frequently that they have very good chemistry and their matches are always enjoyable. Essentially, it's the perfect match for a show like Main Event that very few people actually go out of their way to watch, anyway. My bigger issue with this match is that Kalisto should be more focused on his singles career than teaming with Sin Cara. I love The Lucha Dragons, but the United States Championship shouldn't be an afterthought.
Paige def. Summer Rae
It's amazing how much more likable Paige is when she isn't talking. She's among my favorite Divas on the roster today, but she is incredibly annoying whenever she speaks, and I'm not referring to her accent (see: Tough Enough last summer). The match was all right while it lasted, though Lana's presence at ringside served as a distraction not only for Paige but for yours truly. I guess this Team Brie vs. Team Lana feud is primarily a Main Event program because that's the only show I've seen this storyline progress on as of late.
Sami Zayn def. Stardust
Similar to at Roadblock, Zayn and Stardust produced a very well-wrestled match, but the crowd was mostly quiet for the contest. Next to nobody cares about Stardust, so it's difficult to take him seriously as a threat to a newcomer like Zayn. Zayn works best when he's up against the odds versus a bigger opponent, but Stardust has zero credibility at the moment, so fans had no reason to believe he was going to win. Nevertheless, a solid win for Zayn that helped further his momentum.
This edition of Main Event featured the United States Champion in action, a Roadblock rematch, and seeds being planted for a WrestleMania mutli-woman match, so it was a more newsworthy show than usual. It isn't must-see by any means, but if you have an hour to kill, I could think of worse ways to spend your time than by watching this relatively fun episode.
