Mansoor def. Drew Gulak
I had to make sure I wasn't watching last week's episode when this match started as Mansoor vs. Gulak kicked off last week's Main Event as well. I guess Mansoor's appearance wasn't a one-off after all. I don't think he's being groomed for a main roster call-up (especially since he's never had a real run in NXT), but it's cool to see him on Main Event, nonetheless. As I said last week, Gulak is the perfect person for him to be working with because he's great. Mansoor is skilled as well and thus this was a nice little match for the time it was given.
Ricochet def. Akira Tozawa
Damn, this was a lot of fun. It's no secret that both guys are incredibly underutilized and deserve better, but at least they had the chance to go in there and have the entertaining encounter they were capable of here. I'm well aware few people are actually going to see it, but you still make time to check it out. Ricochet is obviously spinning his wheels right now, but at the very least, he's doing his thing right now on Main Event, so it's better than nothing.
By Main Event standards, this was an above-average show. We got a rematch from last week with Mansoor vs. Gulak and it was a well-wrestled affair. I'd love to see more of Mansoor on Main Event because the guy has potential. Meanwhile, Ricochet vs. Tozawa was a blast and worth giving a watch. Add on any Raw replays featuring new WWE Champion Bobby Lashley and you have yourself a thumbs-up episode. I appreciate we aren't getting the same matches week after week the way we were pre-pandemic.
