Commander Azeez def. Akira Tozawa
It isn't often we see Azeez in action on his own. There's a reason for that and it's because he's not very good. That said, having an opponent as skilled as Tozawa in there with him certainly helped. Tozawa bumped around for his offense and came closer to winning than I thought he would at a few different points, so it wasn't a total squash. Azeez going over in the end was no surprise, though.
Apollo Crews def. T-Bar
What was silly about this was that Crews and Azeez were still out there from the opener, but this match didn't air until later in the episode per usual. Crews and T-Bar are both very talented, but their current gimmicks are just the worst. That's why they've primarily been relegated to Main Event as of late. They worked hard and had a solid match, but the crowd didn't seem to care because both guys are heels.
There will be editions of Main Event where we get the occasional fresh face, but then there are shows like this one where it's the same Superstars we always get and the matches aren't anything out of the ordinary. Granted, we haven't seen Tozawa vs. Azeez and T-Bar vs. Crews done to death in the past, but the crowd had zero incentive to cheer for any of the four guys and thus both bouts fell flat. This was a pretty dull episode despite a commendable effort from all involved.
