Ricochet def. Mustafa AliAli cheated to beat Ricochet last week, so this was the rematch. They've been building it up all week long on Twitter (hell, even Randy Orton hyped it up), so it's cool to see them giving a match on Main Event attention and making it matter when WWE won't bother to. These two are almost always short on time yet they make the most of whatever they're given like they did here. It was very entertaining while it lasted and that Shooting Star Press that Ricochet did to a standing Ali was incredibly impressive. Ricochet had his foot on the ropes when he pinned Ali, so now that they're tied with one win apiece, I expect a rubber match next week. Jinder Mahal def. Jeff HardyI remember being at an episode of Raw almost exactly three years ago and seeing Hardy beat Mahal for the United States Championship live. It was a great moment, but it's sad to see how far Hardy has fallen since then. Mahal has bored me to tears for years, so I couldn't care less that he's back to pulling Main Event duty. This bout was basic as could be and probably didn't need to be eight minutes. Mahal winning was disappointing, but I guess he needed to if this new group of his is going to mean anything. Yes, he came out flanked by Veer (the former Rinku Singh) and Shanky, who debuted at the Superstar Spectacle show a few months ago. I don't know why WWE would replace Rinku's original partner in Indus Sher because Shanky is super green and is far rom ready for this spot. Overall ShowBetween Ali vs. Ricochet being relegated to Hulu, the return of Hardy and Mahal debuting a new stable of sorts, I saw more people talking about Main Event this week than I have in a long, long time. It's a tale of two matches, however, as Ricochet vs. Ali was an above-average match by Main Event standards while Hardy vs. Mahal was an absolute dud. Keep an eye out for Mahal's faction popping up on Raw one of these days because Main Event is usually where WWE tests the water for stuff before it winds up elsewhere. Make time for the opener but skip the rest.
