Aleister Black def. Curt HawkinsI heard rumblings before Raw aired that Black was in action prior to the taping, though I didn't actually think it would air on Main Event, so that was a pleasant surprise. It was wise to debut him in front of an English audience (similar to when he showed up at the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament earlier this year) because they were familiar with him and gave him a proper response. Black shined as much here as he has in his recent squash matches on NXT. I honestly wouldn't be shocked to see him on the main roster before long because the guy is a total star. Noam Dar def. Gran MetalikDar received a pretty favorable reaction, which wasn't surprising considering he hails from Europe, but the crowd sat on their hands for Metalik when he made his entrance and that was pretty depressing. The guy was a standout in the Cruiserweight Classic and a mega star in Mexico, yet he has been largely nonexistent on WWE programming and therefore fans don't care about him. The in-ring action here was decent, but the fans didn't really react to much of what they did, so that was a bit of a bummer. Overall ShowWith Black making his main roster debut (or sorts) on this show, I would certainly say this edition of Main Event is must-see. Black's brief squash match was a real treat and has me excited for when he eventually gets the call-up. Meanwhile, Dar vs. Metalik featured some solid wrestling, but not even the typically rowdy English crowd couldn't bring themselves to care, so I can't exactly recommend checking it out.
