![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Naomi def. Natalya It truly is amazing that with only six active women on SmackDown Live's roster, there are three simultaneous stories between them right now. Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss are obviously feuding over the SmackDown Women's Championship, Nikki Bella and Carmella have their thing going on, and Naomi and Natalya have their own little side story. This was a well-wrestled match and I like how Naomi is finally establishing an identity for herself. She seems to be really having fun in this role, which is important. The finish came out of nowhere, but I'm sure we'll be seeing more matches between them in the future, anyway. SmackDown Tag Team Champions Heath Slater and Rhyno def. The Ascension (Non-title) I remember Slater and Rhyno appeared on a recent episode of Main Event to face Breezango, but other than that, it's rare champions wrestle on Main Event, so this was a nice treat. The match wasn't much more than a quick warm-up for Slater and Rhyno before their No Mercy match against The Usos, but it was enjoyable while it lasted and the crowd rallied behind the babyfaces throughout. Overall Show
I've been saying for weeks now that SmackDown Live is the better brand compared to Raw, and the same can be said for Main Event vs. Superstars. While Superstars continue to feature the same two or three matches week after week, Main Event presents matches that are relatively fresh and can be entertaining to watch from time to time. Once again, this was a solid show on the whole with two good matches. |
