Kevin Owens def. Jack Swagger

What did we do to get a special sighting from Owens on Main Event this week? Better yet, who did Owens piss off backstage to get himself in this position? In all seriousness, it's not as bad as it seems, especially if you consider he beat Cesaro in clean fashion on Raw this week, so it would be silly to say that he was in hot water. As for this match, I thoroughly enjoyed it because it was one of the best bouts I've seen on this show in some time. When Swagge has the same opponents week after week, his matches tend to grow boring, but when he's given a fresh face to work with, he can be a treat to watch in the ring as seen here. However, Owens was the star of this match by far and his "We are idiots!" line when mocking Swagger had me dying of laughter. Additionally, the final few minutes strayed away from the formulaic finishing sequence we see more often than not on Main Event. Leave it to Owens to turn anything he's a part of into gold.

Fandango def. Adam Rose

As I've expressed before, Rose's "party pooper" character just isn't doing it for me. I guess it's good he's finally been established as a heel instead of floundering back and forth between being a babyface and a heel, but this new persona has only so much shelf life. Thankfully, the match was kept relatively brief, but Rose won't garner any true heat if he continues to stack up losses.

Team B.A.D. def. Paige and Becky Lynch

It was really to cool to see the women positioned in the main event of the program this week and they were given plenty of time. That said, it was more of the same from the ladies in that it was all about the faction wars, but I give them credit for attempting to switch it up by telling the story that Paige wanted to avenge her loss from Raw against Banks. Thus, it made sense for Banks to pin Paige to pick up the win for her team. As always, the in-ring action was solid and actually better than anything we saw from the ladies on Raw.

Overall Show

This was easily one of the better editions of Main Event in recent months as all three matches managed to hold my interest in one way or another. Owens vs. Swagger was a highly entertaining encounter and this show was worth watching for that match alone. The women's match was also a step up from the lousy Beat the Clock Challenge matches and even the pointless Rose vs. Fandango match didn't overstay its welcome, so this episode gets a thumbs up from me.
