Javier Bernal def. Guru RaajBoth of these guys have largely been used to put others over so far, so I genuinely had no idea who would win. That added to the unpredictability of the outcome even though the match itself was as basic as could be. I'll take basic over bad, but Bernal and Raaj will need some serious character development in order for fans to care about them. They made fine use of the time they had and Bernal's Codebreaker finisher was nicely executed. Ivy Nile def. Thea HailNile's winning ways these past several months have certainly been noticeable, so I'm curious if it's leading to anything like a title shot or if they simply plan on protecting her for now. She's getting better, I'll give her that. This marked Hail's Level Up debut, and while she scored minimal offense and fared well, this was all about Nile. This would have benefited from being a bit shorter than it was to establish Nile's dominance. Andre Chase and Bodhi Hayward def. Channing Lauren and Troy DonovanBless the crowd for being into the Chase University stuff as they are because I personally couldn't care less about them. They made this match more enjoyable with their enthusiasm, and it was certainly well worked, but a Chase University showcase in the main event slot doesn't cut it for me. At the very least, their tag team finisher was innovative and looked awesome. On a side note, I believe one of their opponents previously wrestled on the AEW Dark shows because he looked familiar, maybe as Cole Karter. Overall ShowThe influx of fresh faces was appreciated I suppose, but it certainly didn't result in the most exciting episode yet. Last week was a surprisingly solid show, but this was a significant step down in my eyes. All three matches were below average and didn't feature anything you need to go out of your way to see. You'll probably like the main event more than I did if you're into the Chase University crap, but because I'm not, I didn't care much about this edition of Level Up at all.
