Oro Mensah def. Myles BorneI was excited when Mensah arrived in NXT and got a push right out of the gate after not doing much in NXT UK (aside from holding the NXT UK Tag Team Championship with Ashton Smith very briefly), but based on his appearances on Level Up as of late, it looks like he's already back to being an undercard competitor for now. He's a talented dude, so hopefully it's not long before he's back on TV. This was a well-wrestled affair, though the crowd didn't have an incentive to cheer one guy over the other with both being babyfaces. Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo def. Tavion HeightsHeights is Olympic wrestler Tracy Hancock, who I actually had the pleasure of interviewing last month. Obviously, he has a ton of impressive accolades, so I was surprised those weren't played up more by the commentators. I'm also slightly surprised he isn't able to keep his name like Gable Steveson. Regardless, he looked like a natural in the ring and came across well on the mic during his pre-match promo. He had a solid showing here, but Lorenzo is the one being featured on NXT TV at the moment, so I understand why he won. Thea Hail def. Sol RucaSimilar to the opener, this also had a babyface vs. babyface dynamic, but it was more of a hinderance in this case because they didn't have great chemistry together. This wasn't awful by any means, but it's clear Ruca needs more reps on Level Up and Hail is seasoned enough to carry her, either. This just ended up being basic, so I wouldn't have had it close the show. These crowds continue to dig Chase U, though. Overall ShowThe top takeaway from this episode for me was the debut of Tavion Heights, likely because I'm biased after having interviewed him recently. I hope nothing but the best for him and firmly believe he can be a star with the proper development. Meanwhile, Mensah vs. Borne was a fun little sprint while it lasted, but Hail vs. Ruca in the main event was underwhelming. It was a mixed bag of a show this week with the good outweighing the bad.
