WWE NXT Level Up Review - June 10, 2022

Valentina Feroz def. Arianna Grace

This marked Feroz' first televised match since late April and I'm not sure why she and Yulisa Leon hadn't been featured since then. Meanwhile, Grace is still a fresh face and is in the process of improving. For a four-minute match, this was perfectly fine. They stuck to the basics, and with Feroz' victory not being decisive, I can certainly see them facing off in a rematch on an upcoming episode.

Sloane Jacobs def. Sierra St. Pierre

Much like Grace, Jacobs is another relatively fresh face as well. Pierre is even newer than she is and I'm pretty sure this was her Level Up debut, though I don't know if she's someone they intend to focus on or if she was just there to put over Jacobs. This was less competitive than the opener and was more of a straightforward squash. The match was whatever, but it was designed to give Jacobs more experience and I guess it served its purpose in that respect.

Ikemen Jiro def. Dante Chen

No one has been more of a workhorse on this show in recent weeks than Chen. He's been on almost every episode lately, and although he loses far more often than he wins, he always gives it a commendable effort and that was once again the case here. Jiro, of course, can go with the best of them and is fun to watch as well, so this was an entertaining main event with an energetic pace. It's been a bit since Jiro last competed on Level Up, so it was nice to see him back.

Overall Show

The first two matches were as "developmental" as it gets. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though. They definitely don't belong on TV (or even a streaming service for that matter), but it gives the newcomers more experience and that's the point of this program whether we like it or not. NXT's return to the road with live events starting this weekend should help with that. The main event is the only match of the three on this show that was anywhere near average, but the episode overall was serviceable.
