WWE NXT Level Up Review - March 18, 2022

Xyon Quinn def. Damon Kemp

It appears it's back to the drawing board for Quinn, who went from feuding with Legado del Fantasma for a few months to now wrestling regularly on Level Up. Hey, at least he isn't losing consistently, so that's a plus. Quinn will be one to watch I think along with Kemp, whose legitimate amateur wrestling background makes him stand out. This wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but both guys had solid showings in the time they were allotted.

Lash Legend def. Valentina Feroz

It's amazing to me how Legend's matches have been very hit or miss so far. She's had some real stinkers, but she's also had matches that have been way better than they've had any right to be. This fell in the latter category. She and Feroz had strong chemistry together and this had that great David vs. Goliath dynamic. The crowd being into the action only added to it. Post-match, Legend quickly addressed Nikkita Lyons, so unfortunately that feud is still a thing.

Dante Chen def. Bodhi Hayward

Level Up is right where Hayward belongs right now because he's clearly still quite inexperienced. Maybe he'll end up being something, but I don't think his current alliance with Andre Chase helps him at all because of the short shelf life that gimmick has. Chen comes off as much more badass, so him winning was the right call. This was a below-average match that shouldn't have been positioned as the main event.

Overall Show

I can't believe I'm saying this, but that Lash Legend match absolutely should have been the main event over Chen vs. Hayward. Hell, even Quinn vs. Kemp was better than Chen vs. Hayward. The wrestling on this show was what you'd expect given all of the younger guys and girls they're trying to push on NXT at the moment, but it could've been worse. This was a middle-of-the-road show with the first two matches bringing it up a notch.
