WWE NXT Level Up Review - March 4, 2022

Dante Chen def. Javier Bernal

We've seen Bernal in action a time or two in the past, but we still know nothing about him. As for Chen, he's fresh off a mini push on NXT TV where he briefly feuded with Duke Hudson and came out on the losing end. Chen has a bit more credibility then Bernal, so it was smarter to have him win here. There wasn't anything out of the ordinary about the bout because it was so short, but at least it wasn't bad, so I guess that's something.

Tiffany Stratton def. Erica Yan

Yan is one of the go-to enhancement talents in NXT's women's division. She's a fine wrestler and is as much of a work in progress as Stratton is. The difference is that Stratton is the one they're pushing, or at least they were up until a few weeks ago. It's better they take their time with her because she's still so inexperienced. This was a passable affair with Stratton showing some signs of improvement, which is encouraging.

Legado del Fantasma (Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde) def. Edris Enofe and Malik Blade

This was a rematch from the quarterfinals of the 2022 men's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic where Enofe and Blade upset Legado. We've been seeing a lot of Enofe and Blade on NXT TV since then, but it's only been goofy segments where they're simping over Toxic Attraction. NXT needs to do a little less of that with them and showcase them in the ring for because they're both very talented. This was a solid main event, but I feel like it could have been better and more exciting if it wasn't so formulaic. This was a must-win match for Legado to get them back on track.

Overall Show

The in-ring action on this episode was a step down from what it's been the last two weeks. In fact, it was more along the lines of what we were getting on 205 Live toward the end with the lesser established talent. These were three fairly straightforward matches. I was hoping the tag team match would stand out more than it did, but no such luck. This was a mediocre show, but on the bright side, none of the matches were below-average. I know that's a low bar to set, but that's been par for the course since NXT's relaunch.
