WWE NXT Level Up Review - September 29, 2023

Fallon Henley def. Arianna Grace

This marked Grace's return to the ring after a long layoff due to injury. She seems to be back with a prom queen-esque gimmick and she even got mic time while walking to the ring. Unfortunately, it didn't end up mattering since she lost. The match wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but it would have been nice if Grace had won in an attempt to make a new star in the women's division. Henley really doesn't have anything to lose, but I assume Grace will continue to be an enhancement talent until she improves.

Myles Borne def. Riley Osborne

I totally forgot that we haven't seen Osborne on Level Up since his standout debut a few weeks ago. He cut a backstage promo on this show, but like Grace in the opener, he probably should have won here. I'm all for Borne getting a renewed push now that he's joined Drew Gulak's new stable, but he could have easily absorbed the loss. Despite that, this was a fun match as they worked well together.

Oro Mensah def. Tavion Heights

Heights picked up his first win on Level Up a few weeks ago and that made this match a little less predictable. I say "a little" because I still had no doubt that Mensah was winning considering he's a part of the Meta-Four faction that's been all over NXT TV as of late. I can't complain about the outcome, though, because nothing was being done with Mensah for so long and now he's finally being utilized. This was a quality main event with Heights coming close to scoring the upset before eating defeat.

Overall Show

The conclusion of the NXT Global Heritage Invitational means Level Up will revert to what it once was, and although this was a step down from what it's been in recent weeks, it was still a solid show from Level Up standards. Grace returning was notable (even though she lost), I enjoyed Borne vs. Osborne, and the main event was well wrestled. I'd like to see more of Osborne and time will tell if Grace's gimmick will stick.
