Candice LeRae def. AliyahLeRae has largely been overlooked since coming to NXT, and although I've enjoyed her involvement in Johnny Gargano's story, I really wish she would get some direction of her own. This was a solid start, as she had a good showing against Aliyah. I'm not yet sold on Aliyah (and I don't think I ever will be), but she also performed well here. Keeping this short and sweet was the right call. Jaxon Ryker def. Danny BurchRyker beat Burch's partner Oney Lorcan on last week's episode, so Ryker taking on Burch was a logical match to do. As I've said countless times in the past, Forgotten Sons do nothing for me, but at least Ryker has the most potential of the bunch. His matches are hit or miss most of the time, but he held his own here while Burch carried him through a majority of the contest. Forgotten Sons laid him and Lorcan out afterward, but I don't think that made television. Street Profits def. Fabian Aichner and Marcel BarthelMy hope months ago was for Street Profits to contend for the NXT Tag Team Championship at TakeOver: New York, and although that didn't happen, having them compete beforehand on NXT TV was the next best thing. They received a strong reaction from the crowd and kept them engaged throughout with their exciting offense. Obviously, having quality opponents in Aichner and Barthel helped, so this was an entertaining outing on the whole. This marked Street Profits' first significant win in a while, so fingers crossed they can finally start building momentum coming off of this. Overall ShowYou know what you get with the post-TakeOver editions of NXT since fresh content doesn't begin airing until the following week, but this was a fun hour (er, 50 minutes) of wrestling with plenty of TakeOver recap videos spliced in. Normally, I'd suggest skipping over that type of stuff, but TakeOver: New York was probably the greatest live special NXT has produced to date, so I'd certainly say the replays are worth sitting through, as well as the post-match interviews. Street Profits vs. Aichner and Barthel was the only above-average match on this show, but the entire episode is a quick and easy watch all things considered.
