WWE NXT Review - August 14, 2019

Breezango def. Forgotten Sons

As cool as Fandango's in-ring return was, I was really excited to see what Breeze could do on his own in NXT. It looks like we're going to have to wait a little longer for that singles run from him. Breezango will be a fun addition to the brand's tag team division, but I really hope they're more serious this time around and not just a comedy act like they were on the main roster. This was an nice little tag team match while it lasted with Breezango getting a strong reaction from this crowd.

Jordan Myles def. Cameron Grimes in the NXT Breakout Tournament Finals

I didn't know how this match would go after Grimes dominated the early goings, but once the second half came along, they kicked it up a notch and delivered an exciting affair. I was really happy they were allowed to let loose and go all out, winning over the originally-quiet crowd in the process. Grimes is super talented, but I feel Myles has more potential to be a breakout star in NXT and thus I'm stoked he came out on top with the championship opportunity. Now he just has to cool it with the excessive smiling.

Overall Show

The matches on these post-TakeOver shows are typically entertaining albeit nothing notable, yet I didn't feel that was the case with this edition of NXT. Not only did Breezango make their official comeback and conquer Forgotten Sons, the finals of the NXT Breakout Tournament also took place in front of a capacity crowd. Plus, both bouts were very enjoyable and filled the hour well along with all the recaps from TakeOver: Toronto II on Saturday night. I'm looking forward to Matt Riddle vs. Killian Dain on next week's show (assuming it actually comes to fruition this time).
