NXT North American Champion Adam Cole def. Danny Burch (Non-title)Burch has never truly been positioned as a threat in singles competition, but his recent push alongside Oney Lorcan did create some doubt regarding the finish of this match. This was a competitive contest with Burch scoring more offense than I thought he would, but that was what I liked about it. In the end, Cole picked up the clean victory, which is a refreshing change of pace for his character. I'd love to see him defend his NXT North American Championship against Ricochet at TakeOver: Brooklyn IV. Kairi Sane def. Vanessa BorneI was never the biggest Borne fan from the get-go, but a lot like Lacey Evans, she has improved exponentially over the last year. She isn't anywhere near the top of NXT's loaded women's division, mind you, but she comes across as more and more comfortable in the ring with every match she has on TV. This was another solid showing from her in what was a nice matchup on the whole, but Sane's victory and post-match promo made it clear that she has her sights set on the NXT Women's Championship. Undisputed Era def. Moustache Mountain to Win the NXT Tag Team ChampionshipTheir initial encounter over in England was excellent and the rematch here was equally entertaining, excelling in telling a smart story with Undisputed Era focusing on the injured knee of Seven and in delivering a blockbuster main event. That second half was simply fantastic and they had the crowd with them every step of the way. Seven sold his injured knee wonderfully and that was the catalyst behind Bate throwing in the towel, costing them the championship in the process. I suppose it protected them in defeat, but it also could have been designed to tease tension between Bate and Seven. Overall ShowAleister Black was originally advertised to appear in front of the crowd, but Tommaso Ciampa ambushing him backstage beforehand prevented that from happening. Not only was that feud furthered before their NXT Championship match in two weeks, we had more developments in the women's division while Undisputed Era cemented their spot back atop the totem pole with wins in the opener and the main event, which was absolutely exceptional. This was all around awesome hour of TV and the coming weeks have promise as well given what's on tap.
