WWE NXT Review - June 20, 2018

Bianca Belair def. Dakota Kai

Belair impresses me more and more with every showing she has, especially considering how new she still is to wrestling. Kai, on the other hand, always plays the underdog role exceptionally well, so I liked the dynamic they had in this match. Belair is obviously the one officials are keen on pushing right now, not to mention Kai never loses anything in defeat, so the result was the right one. This was very good while it lasted.

War Raiders def. The Mighty

Before I discuss the match itself, I just want to note that I dig The Mighty's new look with the tights and ring jackets. Granted, they lost here, but they're quickly finding their footing as heels, which is encouraging. Although this was largely a showcase for War Raiders, The Mighty scored a decent measure of offense, though the crowd ate up anything that involved War Raiders squashing their opponents. I could certainly see them contending for the NXT Tag Team Championship come TakeOver: Brooklyn IV.

Overall Show

As is usually the case with these post-TakeOver editions of NXT TV, this show mostly consisted of video packages from Saturday's TakeOver: Chicago II event and backstage interviews with the wrestlers. The two featured matches were highly enjoyable, though, and the crowd was much livelier in person than we came across on TV. This is far from a must-see show, but it's a great way to get caught up on everything NXT if you missed TakeOver.
