Gigi Dolin def. Jacy Jane in a Weaponized Steel Cage Match

This was easily the best bout these two have had and it's not even close because of how their previous encounters had to be cut short. The stipulation made sense with how long they've been feuding, and hopefully this marks the end because I'm beyond ready for both of them to move onto other opponents. This was good stuff, though. I still think these two would be better together than apart at this point, but we'll see where they go from here.

NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes Accepted NXT Heritage Cup Champion Noam Dar's NXT Championship Challenge

I'm glad this didn't kick off the episode because it played out fairly predictably in setting up the night's main event. That's not to say this was a bad segment as everyone played their roles well. My only nitpick is that Dar's new alliance with Lash Legend, Jakara Jackson and Oro Mensah was never explained. I realize they've interacted backstage before, but it would have been nice to find out why exactly they joined forces.

NXT North American Champion Wes Lee and Tyler Bate def. The Dyad

Lee and Bate are seemingly back to being buddies after burying the hatchet in a backstage segment beforehand. I really hope their win over The Dyad here means Schism is done in the NXT North American Championship picture because, as I've said many times in the past, the act sucks. The match itself was fun and Mustafa Ali showing up in the crowd was a cool surprise. He never had a real run in NXT before joining 205 Live years ago, so this feels fresh.

Tiffany Stratton's NXT Women's Championship Celebration Descended Into Chaos

Stratton is the best fit as NXT Women's Champion right now, and as impressive as she's been this year, she still needs some work with her promos. This was not very good. The material was fine, but the delivery wasn't strong as it sounded way too scripted. This would've been better kept short or if someone interrupted her sooner. A Battle Royal will be held next week to determine the number one contender to the title.

Blair Davenport Attacked Dani Palmer

Davenport has been gone from NXT TV since Worlds Collide last September and I assume her absence was attributed to visa issues. Several women have legitimately gotten injured this year, so NXT was smart to turn it into a storyline by explaining an anonymous figure was attacking them in the dreaded NXT parking lot. Davenport made the most sense to be behind it and this was the official reveal. She's a strong addition to the roster at a time when NXT has lost a lot of ladies to injury and to the main roster.

Joe Gacy def. Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo

Tony D'Angelo is still dealing with being "arrested" (or at least brought in for questioning by police), so he's not around for the time being. Is this leading to a Gacy vs. D'Angelo feud? Gacy's great in the ring and this was another quality contest from him while it lasted, but I can't say that's something I'd particularly care to see. I appreciated that this was competitive and that Lorenzo scored an ample amount of offense before eating defeat.

Cora Jade def. Ivy Nile

Nile has been completely wasted in the last year and I don't think a feud with Ava is the answer. Ava is extremely inexperienced in the ring and has a long way to go based on the little we saw of her wrestling at Stand & Deliver. Nile loses far more than she wins and deserves better. This was decent but way too short to be anything out of the ordinary. I don't think Jade will be contending for the title any time soon, so I'm interested to see what she does next.

NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes def. NXT Heritage Cup Champion Noam Dar (NXT Heritage Cup Championship Was Not Defended)

Dar doesn't do much for me and didn't feel like a legitimate threat to the NXT Championship whatsoever, but to his credit, he and Hayes had an enjoyable main event. The stuff with the Heritage Cup drags his matches down and I'm glad this didn't follow that format. Hayes continues to prove he's a fighting champion, and now he know Baron Corbin will be his next challenger. Corbin has been very creatively damaged for many months now, but I love the idea of Corbin coming back to NXT and working with some of the talent on the roster. A return to his Lone Wolf roots isn't necessarily a quick fix, but it'd be a significant step in the right direction for his character.

Overall Show

The appearances of Corbin, Ali and Davenport made this an eventful edition of NXT. We also got a Weaponized Steel Cage match and an NXT Championship main event, so I'd definitely give the show a thumbs-up. NXT TV is hit or miss most weeks, but I was thoroughly entertained by this episode on the whole as it followed up on Battleground while also setting stuff up for the coming weeks.
