Velvteen Dream Confronted NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa
The more Ciampa brings up Aleister Black and denies that he wasn't the one behind his attack, the more it makes me think that it was him after all. Dream would be a fine choice, but him and Black have feuded once before and there's no reason to revisit that rivalry. At any rate, I loved the verbal exchange between Dream and Ciampa and the Nikki Cross tease was well done, too. This was a strong segment and the mystery surrounding Black continues.
Keith Lee def. Kona Reeves
Lee impresses me more and more every time I see him and this was another enjoyable outing from him. Meanwhile, it's been well-documented that Reeves does nothing for me, but I thought he did a decent job of making Lee look good. He isn't going anywhere so long as he has that discount John Morrison gimmick. Lee, on the other hand, has plenty of potential to make it big if he can stay the course.
NXT North American Champion Ricochet def. WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne and Adam Cole in a Triple Threat Match (WWE United Kingdom Championship Was Not Defended)
Dunne and Ricochet ripped it up in their title for title match last month on NXT TV and they managed to raise the bar once again with this exceptional main event. Seriously, this was spectacular stuff. All three guys have such stellar chemistry together and there never seemed to be a dull moment. The innovative spots to the frantic pace to the suspenseful nearfalls made this one of the best TV matches I have seen all year. Plus, it's apparent they're building to something at WarGames 2, likely a WarGames matchup.
NXT is firing on all cylinders at the moment. I mean, in addition to delivering must-see matches almost every single week, the brand is simultaneously building toward future episodes of the show, WWE Evolution, and WarGames 2. That's pretty damn impressive when you consider WWE is doing the same thing and failing at it. Nonetheless, this was an awesome edition of NXT TV with everything serving a purpose and holding my attention by being exciting.
