NXT North American Champion Cameron Grimes def. Solo Sikoa and Carmelo Hayes in a Triple Threat MatchThese NXT North American Championship defenses have been a recurring highlight in NXT for many months. The common denominator? Carmelo Hayes. The man is a damn star and is a tremendous talent, but take nothing away from Grimes and Sikoa, who are also a blast to watch. This was a terrific Triple Threat with a ton of exciting action and a hot crowd to boot. It's interesting that Sikoa was the one pinned and not Hayes. Could Sikoa already be on his way up to the main roster now that he's failed to win the belt three times in the span of a month? And does this mean is Hayes is about to be moved up to the NXT Championship picture? Nathan Frazer def. Grayson WallerFrazer has been damn impressive since signing with WWE two years ago and I'm all for him getting more exposure on NXT after a year-long stint on NXT UK. He and Waller worked really well together and had a fun match. Even better was that fact that Frazer won, which is big considering how protected Waller has been in NXT 2.0. I hope it's a sustained push because he's very likable, though I wish Von Wagner wasn't involved in this angle at all because he's abysmal. Cora Jade and Nikkita Lyons def. Lash Legend and NatalyaThis is the third match Lyons and Legend have had and I think it's time to move on from this feud, especially now that Lyons has come out on the winning end every time. I'm glad she's been booked strong because the fans are obviously into her and it's smart for NXT to capitalize on her popularity even though she still has a ways to go in the ring. I don't particularly care for Natalya, but she held this thing together and Jade was good, too. The Creed Brothers def. The Viking RaidersWith Malcom Bivens receiving his release last week and Roderick Strong requesting his own recently, it's clear Diamond Mine will not be around for much longer. Strong interfering in this match toward the end to aid Creed Brothers to victory and them being bothered by it afterward should be what leads to Strong being booted, both out of the group and the company. At any rate, this was a really fun hoss fight. Creed Brothers kicking out of Viking Raiders' finisher in the first minute was a bit ridiculous, but the rest of this was well done and Creed Brothers proved they could hang with the former NXT and Raw Tag Team Champions. NXT Champion Bron Breakker def. Joe GacyHarland's absence was definitely felt during Gacy's entrance. I always felt like Harland was capable of more than being Gacy's lackey, but Gacy's act doesn't feel complete without followers of some kind (a la Bray Wyatt). And no, druids are not the answer. Gacy's gimmick has been pretty polarizing since it started and understandably so, but the guy can go in the ring and he was a good opponent for Breakker to be working with. They had a rock solid main event, though I have no desire to see this feud continue assuming that's what the post-match visual hinted at. Overall ShowAs I always say, NXT always puts forth a better effort with the television specials compared to the ordinary episodes. This was far from my favorite one they've done, but this was still a solid show on the whole. There wasn't anything remarkably special about the main event, but there was enough above-average throughout the rest of the night to make this a thumbs-up event. I'd like to see more shows like this from the brand on the regular, but I know it's still developmental at the end of the brand and that's just not realistic.
