WWE NXT UK Review - April 24, 2019

Kassius Ohno def. Ligero

Ohno has been a fantastic fit for NXT UK since his debut on the brand last month, and it's cool to see him mix it up with wrestlers with different styles. Ligero was no different, as these two worked very well together and produced a very fun match to kick off the show. Ohno is so great as the bully heel, so he was the perfect foil for Ligero here. I wouldn't be surprised to see this feud continue considering Ohno won clean.

NXT UK Women's Champion Toni Storm Addressed the Audience

It was good to see Storm make an appearance during the Axxess tapings, even if she wasn't in action. Granted, she didn't really say anything of note during her promo, but she did address her recent victory over Jinny and how she's looking ahead to her future challengers. She and Kay Lee Ray had a brief face-off on the stage while she was walking to the back, so hopefully that bout isn't too far off.

Kay Lee Ray def. Xia Li

Li impressed me with the showings she had in the 2018 Mae Young Classic and in the women's Royal Rumble match, so she could definitely be something with more seasoning. Granted, this was all about Ray, but Li looked credible in defeat. It was important for Ray to win in dominant fashion with it just being teased that she has her sights set on Storm's NXT UK Women's Championship.

Moustache Mountain def. Flash Morgan Webster and Mark Andrews

Damn, this was such a blast. Moustache Mountain never cease to remind me how awesome tag team wrestling can be, regardless of who they're up against. They just so happened to face an equally excellent tandem in Webster and Andrews, so this was every bit as entertaining as I expected. The crowd was into everything they did and the win gets Moustache Mountain one step closer to a rematch for the NXT Tag Team Championship.

Overall Show

All in all, this was an above-average edition of NXT UK with everything serving a purpose and holding my interest. Ohno vs. Ligero was a treat, the seeds were planted for Storm vs. Ray, and the tag team main event is well worth checking out. I'm looking forward to the next batch of fresh tapings of NXT UK, but these shows taped at WrestleMania Axxess have been enjoyable in the meantime.
