Tyler Bate def. Gentleman Jack Gallagher
I didn't realize how good of a fit Gallagher was for NXT UK until he appeared on the program here. That said, I'd totally be in favor of him making a move to NXT UK sometime soon. Aside from his alliance with Drew Gulak, it's not like he's doing too much of note on 205 Live these days. At any rate, this was a very well-wrestled match from him and Bate. I liked how it was submission-based and played to their strengths, so while it wasn't too flashy, the crowd seemed to enjoy the action, anyway.
WALTER def. Kassius Ohno
WALTER has been on absolute tear since arriving in NXT UK last month and his streak of dominance continued here. Ohno has been a glorified stepping stone in NXT for almost two years, so although the outcome was never in doubt, this was a successful showcase for WALTER ahead of his eventual shot at the WWE United Kingdom Championship. This hard-hitting affair was fun while it lasted.
NXT UK Tag Team Champions The Grizzled Young Veterans def. Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch
Lorcan and Burch are such a blast to watch in the ring and they had excellent opponents to work with here in Zack Gibson and James Drake. As expected, this was an entertaining outing on the whole with both teams showing strong chemistry. The pace was perfect and the final stretch was especially exciting. Of course, The Grizzled Young Veterans retaining their titles was the right call, but I'd love to see more of Lorcan and Burch as a unit on NXT UK in the future.
I'm not sure when the fresh batch of NXT UK TV tapings will kick off, but these matches from Royal Rumble Axxess have been solid so far. It helps that a lot of them have had storyline significance and haven't felt like filler at all. The tag team title main event was a treat, WALTER vs. Ohno was exactly what it needed to be, and Bate vs. Gallagher was terrific, so this was an awesome edition of NXT UK from start to finsih. Next week, Ligero and Joseph Conners will face off in a rematch while Travis Banks and Jordan Devlin clash in a Falls Count Anywhere match.
