WWE NXT UK Review - January 27, 2022

Die Familie (Teoman, Rohan Raja and Charlie Dempsey) def. Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey and Gallus)

Teoman and Raja haven't done a ton for me so far, but this faction of theirs definitely makes them more interesting. Dempsey is the best part about it and watching him work was the highlight of this match. It was a well-wrestled six-man tag team affair that saw the right trio go over. That said, I don't think we've seen the last of Die Familie vs. Gallus and I like that Die Familie have won a majority of the matches so far.

Jinny def. Amale

This had been building for a few weeks through pre-taped segments and video packages. Jinny is essentially the gatekeeper of the NXT UK women's division, so if they want to get Amale over as a babyface, Jinny is the perfect person for her to be working with. They had a solid match and Jinny cheating to win keeps the feud alive. I don't have any issue with Amale losing at this point if the idea is for her to win in the end.

NXT United Kingdom Champion Ilja Dragunov def. Jordan Devlin in an Empty Arena Match

The fact this took place in an empty arena increased the odds of a title change and therefore every nearfall was that much more suspenseful. The Falls Count Anywhere aspect to it was a plus and excellently executed. They didn't have a crowd to feed off of, but I thought this was violent enough that they were able to make it work. We don't see this sort of stuff often (pandemic era aside), so I enjoyed it and thought those final few minutes were especially enjoyable.

Overall Show

This show was very well put together. It had a quality opener with the right team winning, a decent women's match that left the door open for a rematch, and a hard-hitting main event that's worth going out of your way to see. The NXT United Kingdom Championship isn't defended on the show often, so it feels like a big deal when it is. Next week, Meiko Satomura defends the NXT UK Women's Championship against Blair Davenport in a Japanese Street Fight and I think we're getting a title change there.
