Von Wagner def. Sam GradwellThis had been building for a few weeks. In a perfect world, I would have had Gradwell win to keep his momentum going following his recent win over Kenny Williams, but I knew that wasn't going to happen with how aggressively they're pushing Wagner over in NXT 2.0 right now. The match ended up being fine, but the fact Wagner dominated a majority of it was disappointing. Gradwell has gotten over as a babyface this year and a loss to Wagner of all people doesn't do him any favors. Stevie Turner def. Angel HayzeI'm all for Turner making more appearances and racking up wins. Unfortunately, her squash matches aren't overly interesting. Hayze always plays the enhancement role well, but this felt like it simply existed with nothing standing out about it. As I mentioned, however, I hope Turner building momentum can lead to her entering a feud with someone soon and not just beating nobodies. Ashton Smith and Oliver Carter def. Moustache Mountain and Die Familie (Teoman and Rohan Raja) in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match to Win the NXT UK Tag Team ChampionshipThe storytelling with Moustache Mountain these past few months has been fantastic and Carter and Smith have flourished in chase mode. Die Familie added an interesting element to this match and they could have easily emerged victorious with the titles as well, making for a very exciting Triple Threat. The action being as entertaining as it was only added to my enjoyment of it along with the fast pace and sense of urgency they worked with. Smith and Carter finally got their moment as champions and the dissolution of Moustache Mountain begins with Trent Seven further teasing a heel turn. This was a terrific piece of business. Overall ShowThis was truly a one-match show, and that one match is well worth checking out. Thankfully, the tag team title main event received plenty of time and had a lot to like about it. We don't get title changes very often in NXT UK, so it felt like a special occasion. The rest of this show was whatever with Turner winning a fine squash match and Von Wagner beating Gradwell in a mediocre opener. Like I said, make time for the main event. Meiko Satomura will defend the NXT UK Women's Championship against Ivy Nile on next week's show.
