Blair Davenport def. Stevie Turner
Turner had Davenport reinstated because she was angry over Davenport attacking her a few weeks ago. I've become a big fan of Turner since her arrival in NXT UK and I was glad she scored as much offense as she did here. That said, Davenport is the one they're aggressively pushing at the moment and she was the correct choice to win. At this rate, I assume she'll be the one to eventually dethrone Meiko Satomura as NXT UK Women's Champion.
Sha Samuels def. Flash Morgan Webster
This stemmed from Webster slapping Samuels backstage last week. Samuels is usually accompanied b Noam Dar, but he went at it alone this week, possibly because Dar is focused on challenging for the NXT UK Heritage Cup Championship soon. This wasn't a very meaningful match, but from an in-ring standpoint, it was fun and they worked well together. Samuels picking up the clean win was a pleasant surprise.
NXT United Kingdom Champion Ilja Dragunov def. A-Kid
What an outstanding main event. These two are similar in a lot of ways, not only with the way they wrestle but also their respective character arcs. Sometimes that doesn't make for the best story in a match, but that was absolutely not the case here. They absolutely killed it against each other and it was so refreshing to have a crowd back in attendance for it. If this was any indication of what kind of matches we'll be getting from Dragunov as champion, he's surely going to have an awesome reign.
This show marked the first show NXT UK has had a crowd back in the building since April 2020 (technically it was March but the tapings carried them over into April). They weren't always lively throughout the night, but it was a vast improvement over what we were getting before. The hotter atmosphere should make these shows more worthwhile going forward and this was a damn good first show back. Davenport remains on a roll, Samuels and Webster had a fun middle-of-the-show affair, and the main event was excellent. This was one of the stronger editions of NXT UK on the whole I've seen in a while.
