Wolfgang def. Teoman in an NXT UK Heritage Cup Championship No. 1 Contender's Tournament Semifinal MatchI'm guessing Gallus are tweeners based on how they've been portrayed in a majority of their matches lately, so I'm assuming Wolfgang was intended to be the fan favorite here. It was well worked, yet there was nothing about this that was remotely memorable. In addition to Wolfgang advancing to the next round, it looks like we're going to get Gallus against Teoman and Rohan Raja at some point based on what happened toward the end of this outing. Jinny def. Isla DawnAren't both of these ladies heels? It's well documented that I'm no fan of Dawn or her dumb vampire gimmick, or whatever it's supposed to be. Thus, I didn't care much for this match and I'm not sure who viewers were supposed to cheer for, either. Jinny is talented, so at least she picked up the win and was able to bounce back a bit from her recent loss to Aoife Valkyrie. The match was fine and nothing more. A-Kid def. Nathan Frazer and Rampage Brown in an NXT United Kingdom Championship No. 1 Contender's Triple Threat MatchThis reminded me of the other Triple Threat Brown was involved in on this show a few months ago with Ilja Dragunov and Joe Coffey, and that was one of the best television main events NXT UK has had all year. Unsurprisingly, this was excellent as well. They kept things moving at a chaotic pace and I loved the dynamic with A-Kid and Frazer giving Brown everything they had. They sold his offense incredibly well, and whenever A-Kid and Frazer shared the ring, it was a lot of fun. The best part was that any one of these three could have realistically could, but A-Kid feels the perfect first challenger for Dragunov because that should be a banger and A-Kid won't lose anything in defeat. Overall ShowNeedless to say, this was the definition of a one-match show. There were some well-produced backstage segments and vignettes that aired throughout the night (including for the soon-to-be debuting son of William Regal who I'm excited to see), but the only match that mattered was the main event, especially given what was at stake. I was happy it received as much time as it did and it's well worth checking out when you can find the time. NXT UK has been solid lately, but it has been in desperate need of its top champion.
