WWE Superstars Review - June 17, 2016

​Sasha Banks def. Summer Rae

I heard somewhere a few weeks ago that this was supposed to be a summer storyline with Banks trying to prove herself as a worthy contender to the WWE Women's Championship again against Rae, but it was obviously dropped. They have just been having random matches on Main Event and Superstars instead as Banks waits to be brought back to WWE TV. That said, each of their matches have been well-wrestled and this was no exception. This was mostly about Banks, but Rae had a solid showing here as well. The Charlotte vs. Banks program couldn't start any sooner.


Baron Corbin def. Jack Swagger

The match started out slow, but they picked up the pace nicely down the stretch. The crowd went from sitting on their hands to buying into Swagger's nearfalls toward the end, so that was impressive. This was a rare instance where two big men actually worked well together and produced a good match, and annoying as Dolph Ziggler was on commentary, their feud was furthered as a result heading into their Kickoff show at Money in the Bank.

Overall Show

Dolph Ziggler has quicky gone from being entertaining behind the booth to being extremely obnoxious. He is likely well-aware he is being demoted and it's painfully apparent he couldn't care less anymore. Here's hoping he isn't a permanent fixture on Superstars as an announcer. On the bright side, David Otugna ia breath of fresh air on commentary and he was pretty passable on this show. The two featured matches were also enjoyable, making this a better episode than what we're usually accustomed to.
