The Ascension def. Prime Time Players
As happy as I am to have the Prime Time Players back together, would it have killed WWE to show one backstage segment of them explaining why they've reunited? Some storyline consistency would be nice. Anyway, the two teams had a fine match, and the Prime Time Players gave The Ascension one of their longer matches since joining the main roster. It wasn't a show stealer by any means, but it would have been better if they had something to work with like... I don't know, an actual rivalry? The Prime Time Players handed them their first loss last week; where was the aggression from The Ascension?
Zack Ryder def. Adam Rose
As I mentioned in my Main Event review, kudos to Ryder and Rose for getting their names out there by "feuding" over social media. It's nothing huge, but it's made their series of matches feel slightly more meaningful as opposed to if they were thrown out there for no reason. They worked a nice matchup with the New Jersey crowd solidly behind Ryder, and the commentators pushed the narrative that they might collide in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania.
Both of these bouts belonged on Superstars, but they were equally enjoyable, so it's hard to say this was a throwaway show. The Raw recaps weren't too bad since it's always fun rewatching the Jon Stewart segment, and the lively New Jersey crowd made the two matches more entertaining than they had any right to be, so this show gets a mild thumbs up from me this week.
