Big Show def. Titus O'Neil

It's amazing to think that this was Big Show's first Superstars match since late 2010. Then again, it might not be too surprising since the show has gone downhill since then, but it was a rare treat to have Show make an appearance. It was even more special given that Show hasn't been in action on either of the main shows in a number of weeks. It was predictable from the start that this would be a squash in Show's favor, but O'Neil at least attempted to put up a fight, going down swinging in the process. This is the part where I rant about how O'Neil should be utilized better, but I hate to sound like a broken record so I won't. If nothing else, the bout was kept brief and was relatively painless (well, not for O'Neil).

Jack Swagger def. Cody Rhodes

This match looked good on paper given who was involved and it ultimately lived up to expectations. Both Rhodes and Swagger are great workers and they had an entertaining contest. It was no barn-burner of a bout, but they built to the finish nicely and I was happy that for once the match was given the amount of time that it should. Oftentimes the matches are kept short so the Raw recaps can run longer, but thankfully that wasn't the case here. The finishing sequence was fun and Rhodes losing again furthers the story that he just can't buy a win, meaning that his inevitable heel turn is definitely on the horizon.

Overall Show

I don't usually suggest to people to go out of their way to watch Superstars, and while I'm not doing that here, I will say that this was by far the best episode of the show that I have seen in a long, long time. O'Neil vs. Show was basically what I expected it to be, but even that was tolerable. Rhodes vs. Swagger was worth watching and even the Raw recaps aren't that bad since they were from an enjoyable episode of Raw (you can skip those anyway if you'd like). The awesome England certainly helped matters as well. So, if you have some time to kill, check out this edition of Superstars and you just might be surprised by how good it was.
