By Graham "GSM" Matthews Darren Young def. Damien Sandow It was sad seeing Sandow make his entrance only hours removed from his WWE release. I could write an entire novel about how WWE dropped the ball on him time and time again over the years, especially when he was at the peak of his popularity a year ago, but I think that has already been well-established. He remained over with the crowd despite how he was rarely ever on WWE TV, which never ceased to blow my mind. That's a testament to how entertaining he could be without the system behind him. And yet he gets canned, anyway. Although he was more popular than Young, he played the heel here, so the crowd didn't know how to react. I'm digging Young's new look and music (he actually used that entrance theme many years ago prior to The Prime Time Players), and based off what we saw on SmackDown with him and Bob Backlund, he could be on the verge of a career resurgence of sorts, so good for him. Apollo Crews def. Heath Slater This was no different than their past encounters, and while they work well together, it lasted longer than it needed to. The crowd pretty much sat on their hands their entire time up until the ending and it's hard to blame them. Crews has been impressive in each of his outings thus far, but like I said several weeks ago, these squash matches with him are getting old fairly quickly. It boggles my mind that WWE would call him up to the main roster to tread water when he could have stayed down in NXT a little while longer to further hone his skills. Overall Show
This was a newsworthy edition of Superstars for a number of reasons. Firstly and most importantly, this was Sandow's final WWE match. Secondly, Young is getting pushed and his victory was the start of that. And thirdly, this was Crews' Superstars debut. I might be wrong on that last one, I honestly can't remember because he's been wrestling the same people for weeks. Neither of the two matches were memorable from an in-ring standpoint, but you might consider checking them out for those aforementioned reasons.
