The Shining Stars def. Jared Pimm and Josh Andrews
I couldn't tell you the last time we had a match featuring local athletes on Superstars, if ever. I guess this match was newsworthy in that respect, but other than that, as you could probably expect, it was a total bore. The Shining Stars are a lifeless act as it is, so putting them up against two unknowns was basically asking the live crowd to sit on their hands throughout the bout. The seemingly botched finish didn't help matters, either. That said, I'm glad this was relegated to Superstars and wasn't filler on Raw.
Darren Young def. Jinder Mahal
I'd rant about Bob Backlund and even Young being wasted in their respective roles right now, but that'd merely be beating a dead horse at this point. Meanwhile, Mahal's "I come in peace!" shtick sounds so racist and doesn't elicit any heat whatsoever. The match actually wasn't poorly wrestled, but the crowd couldn't have cared less about it and barely reacted to anything they did.
The Raw recaps aren't unbearable to sit through this week because Raw was rather enjoyable in my opinion on Monday night. But if you watch Superstars solely for its exclusive matches, this isn't an episode worth tuning into. The Shining Stars are absolutely awful, and Young vs. Mahal was a dud of a match because fans aren't invested in either guy, so you're better off holding out hope that next week's show is better.
