By Abiel Tesfamariam The Women's Championship was a championship made 57 years ago. This championship was held by 29 ladies and changed hands 59 times. The first title holder to win it was The Fabulous Moolah. The last was Layla El. Let's take a look at all the former title holders. The Fabulous Moolah was the first person to hold the title. She won it from Judy Grable who held in NWA in a 13 lady battle royal. Moolah then lost it to Betty Bouch, Yukiko, Sue Green, and Evelyn Steven respectively but does title changes were not recognized. After 27 years of holding the title (10,170 days) she lost it to Wendi Richter in a match that forever changed wrestling. Seven months later, she lost it to Moolah's new protege, Leilani Kai. One month later, she lost it back to Wendi Richter at the debut at the first ever WrestleMania. Almost eight months later Wendi lost in a first time ever controversial screw-job to Moolah who was came into the match as a disguise being called "Spider Lady." Moolah than held it for eight more months before she lost it to Velvet McIntyre who held it for 6 days in Australia where Moolah won it again. Moolah held it for a year. She lost the title to Sensational Sherri. Sherri held the title for 441 days before she lost the title in Paris to Rockin Robin. Robin later held the title for 451 days before vacating it as the last title holder. Three years later, the title was reactivated and Alundra Blayze had defeated Heidi Lee Morgan in a tournament to win the title. She held the title for 11 months and lost it to Bull Nakano in Japan. Nakano held it for five months before losing it to Alundra Blayze. Blayze than lost the title to Bertha Fayes at summerslam. Fayes held the title for 2 months before losing Alundra Blayze. Blayze held the title for 51 days. She later trashed the title at WCW which was a very controversial moment in which many believed caused the Montreal Screw-Job. The title was activated three years later and Jacqueline became the first lady to win the title and became the first African-American female wrestler to do so. She later lost the title to Sable at Survivor Series. She held it for six months. She lost the title to Debra. She later lost the title to Ivory. She later lost the title to The Fabulous Moolah. She became the oldest champion in history at the age of 76. She lost the title back to Ivory. Ivory lost the title to Miss Kitty. Kitty then lost the title to Hervina, who was really a man. He became the first man to win a female title. He later lost the title to Jacqueline. Jacqueline had lost the title to Stephanie McMahon. This was the first time that the title was contested on the main event of SmackDown. Stephanie held the title for 5 months until she lost it to Lita in the main-event of Raw with The Rock as special guest referee. She lost the title to Ivory. Ivory lost the title to Chyna at WrestleMania 17. She later vacated the title due to a contract dispute and personal real-life feud with Stephanie McMahon. The title was contested in a six pack challenge at Survivor Series in WCW and ECW vs. WWF feud. The participants were Trish Stratus, Jacqueline, and Lita on team WWF. Ivory, Molly Holly, and Jazz as WCW and ECW were on the other. Trish was the winner of this bout and became the new champion. She lost the title to Jazz and won it back from her later on. She lost the title to Molly Holly at the King of the Ring pay-per-view. She lost it back to Trish. Trish lost to Victoria and won it back. Trish lost the title to Jazz. Jazz lost it to a debuting Gail Kim. Gail held it for 28 days before losing it to Molly Holly. She lost it to Victoria. Victoria later lost it to Trish. Trish lost it to Lita in the main event of Raw. Trish won it back and held it for 15 months. She lost it to Mickie James, who won it at WrestleMania 22. James later lost the title to Lita. Trish won the title from Lita in her retirement match. Trish later vacated the title. Lita won the title beating Mickie James in a tournament. Mickie won the title back from Lita in Lita's retirement match. Mickie lost the title to Melina. Melina lost the title to Mickie but won it back a few minutes later. Melina lost the title to Candice Michelle. Candice lost the title to Beth Phoenix. Mickie James won the title from Beth but lost the title back to her in four months. Melina defeated Beth to win the title at the Royal Rumble. She later lost the title at The Bash to Michelle McCool making McCool the first lady to hold the Women's and Diva's Championships. She lost the title to Mickie James at the Royal Rumble 2010. Michelle won the champion back with Vickie as special guest referee. Beth went on to win the Women's Champion at Extreme Rules. She lost the championship to Layla in a handicap match with Michelle as her partner due to an injury. On September 19, the title was unified by Michelle McCool.
