WWE: Why The Roman Reigns Experiment Has Failed

Going into both WWE Payback and WWE Extreme Rules, most fans with common sense knew Champion Roman Reigns was going to emerge victorious over rival AJ Styles in their program. How it was going to happen was another matter, a matter that many feared for the former IWGP Heavyweight champion.

Make no mistake about it, Styles once again proved why he is indeed "The Phenomenal One" in his latest series of matches with Roman Reigns, but this was never the concern. Roman Reigns winning wasn't even the issue. The issue was a concern of whether or not the former TNA  star would be buried, or at least how he would look in defeat to the hated champion. The concern, unfortunately became more a reality as week after week until the go home Raw for Extreme Rules, both AJ Styles and his (now) former stable, the Bullet Club continued  to look weak and painfully so to both the leader of the Roman Empire, and his cousins, The Usos

In their match at Extreme Rules, beside the asinine Superman finish, the two contested in a very solid match I enjoyed the heck out of their match, until the finish until Roman Reigns had to look like Superman and spear AJ Styles mid air.

After receiving two Styles Clashes, one having been onto a steel chair, the inevitable happened: Roman Reigns kicked out at 2. I cannot speak for every fan, but I can speak for myself when I say this finish is why I do not think Roman Reigns is a believable champion, and it is why largely, the Roman Reigns experiment has failed.

But that's not it you see, ever since it became painfully obvious he was going to main event WrestleMania 32, he has not looked like a believable champion. One that if a non wrestling fan looked at could really buy into. I know we are more than likely in a for a lengthy reign (no pun intended), so I do not expect to see Roman lose the strap any time soon, but at least book him accordingly, because this is not the movies or comic books, but when you book your "guy" like Superman it is how it comes across.
