WWE WrestleMania 29: Could It Be One Of The Best From The PG Era?

There's been a lot of talk surrounding WrestleMania as we grow closer to the event. Some has been positive and a lot has been negative. I'm the first to admit that this year's build hasn't been the best in recent years, but I do think the card is very good. I know a lot will disagree with me on that, but I really feel like people could be left happy by the end of WrestleMania. Let'stake a closer look at the event:

Undercard:

There are currently only three under-card matches scheduled for the event. Wade Barrett the Intercontinental Champion and Antonio Cesaro the United States Champion currently do not have a match. This is currently one of the things WWE is currently doing wrong, the seeds for Barrett vs. Miz are currently being planted but it still doesn't look like anything is on the horizon for Cesaro.

These are the currently the three scheduled matches:

Sheamus, Randy Orton and TBA (Likely The Big Show) vs The Shield (Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns)

The Shield have been completely dominant since they burst on to the scene at the Survivor Series Pay-Per-View in November of last year. The team has proved they can hang in the ring with some of the biggest stars and they've defeated the likes of John Cena, Ryback and Sheamus. The addition of The Big Show in this match could make it very intriguing. The Big Show is currently still presented as a heel but you could argue that he seems to be sort of a tweener at the moment. A lot of people believe that Randy Orton could turn heel during this match and the best way I think they could execute it is for Randy Orton to simply just give up on his team during the match. Having him join the team or be revealed as the leader would be a big mistake in my opinion.

Having him act like this just isn't worth his time would be the best way to go about it. After all what have Sheamus and Show really done for him? Explaining his actions he could say he was sick of being the good guy and that as a good guy he wasn't going anywhere and he couldn't be as dominant without being a heel. Orton has proclaimed many times that he doesn't look out for anyone else other than himself and he doesn't trust anyone else either. All this intrigue surrounding the match will really make it shine in my opinion and it will arguably be in the most talked about occurrences if Orton turns heel. Many fans may be upset if the heel turn doesn't occur but I still believe that the match will be awesome and one of the best from the under-card.

Ryback vs Mark Henry

This is arguably my most anticipated match from the Undercard and also one of my most anticiapated matches from the whole event. I really feel like this has the potential to steal the show. Ryback has established himself as a top star since he debuted last year, but he's lost a number of high profile Pay-Per-View matches. This is a step in the right direction, Henry is the veteran in this situation so it's wise for him to put over a younger star such as Ryback.

The worry currently surrounding this match for fans is if Ryback will be able to lift Henry for his Finishing Move The Shellshock. Ryback has had some trouble with the move in the past, noticeably botching it on Tensai. However, I feel if Henry and Ryback train before the event and Ryback practices the move various times he will be able to pull it off. I feel to make it easier he should find another way to pick up Mark Henry, having him do the finishing move the normal way would be pretty impossible and picking Mark Henry up like he picks up his other opponents would be very difficult.

If Ryback does in fact hit the move then it will arguably be one of the biggest moments from WrestleMania and also a career-defining moment for Ryback.

Team Hell No vs Big E Langston and Dolph Ziggler

In my opinion and I know many others do not feel this way, I think this was the best way to go for a tag-team match for WrestleMania. I feel that this match will actually make the card this year rather than being stuck on the pre-show. The Tag Team Championship has been on a very strange road since it became back to importance again but now it looks like it's in a good spot again. One of the best factors about this match is that there is a very high chance that Langston and Ziggler could come away with the belts. Which leads to the next question on if Ziggler will win two belts in the same night.

This is probably a dream for a lot of fans, but I feel that Ziggler and
Langston will fail in their attempt to capture the belts. However, I do think
they will dominate throughout the match. The only way I can see Ziggler and
Langston picking up the belts is if the World Heavyweight Championship match
opens the show and Ziggler does not cash in his briefcase. I feel this would
upset a lot of fans, but I believe there is a big chance that Ziggler could cash
in the night after WrestleMania on Monday Night RAW.

Main-Event Matches

The main problem people have with this year's main event matches are that most of them are rematches. I personally do not have a problem with this, but a lot of fans do have a problem with it. However, let's look at why I think the main event matches are great:

Jack Swagger vs Alberto Del Rio

I'm currently on the fence about this match. Jack Swagger winning the 2013 Elimination Chamber shocked a lot of fans including myself. However, after some debate I did realize that it was the right choice. Swagger was the only man in the chamber that hadn't really established himself yet and before the event he was on the bottom of many people's lists to win. Having him win brought some the spotlight on to him and I now feel it was the right move to make.

This match could really go either way, it could either be a really great match or it could be a complete disaster. This is something you simply cannot predict. One thing I do not want to happen is for the match to end in a short time like last years World Championship match did. The only way I'd be fine with this is if it inolved Ziggler cashing in after. Both Del Rio and Swagger are great in ring workers and can put on a show-stealing performance. Ever since Del Rio turned face he has been a completely revolutionized man, the same goes for Swagger and his new character. That's one of the main reasons I'm really intrigued about the match because I feel it feels very fresh and new. This has the potential to steal the show.

Triple H vs Brock Lesnar (No Holds Barred match with Triple H's career on the line)

When this was announced as the WrestleMania match a lot of fans groaned. The match they had back at SummerSlam last year didn't live up to a lot of the fan's hype. Also, another thing hurting this match is that it seems very predictable and that Triple H will win. I'm one of the ones that believes that Lesnar could actually get the win here. Maybe Triple H has finally decided to give it up, it seems unlikely but you never really know with the WWE. It would no doubt be a shock if Lesnar got the win.

Aside from everyone thinking it will be a very predictable outcome I feel that this match could still steal the show. I feel like both men are going to go out and put on a show-stealing performance for sure. Also, the stipulation of No Holds Barred allowing them to do whatever they want only adds to the match. This is the match where I feel we could potentially see some blood. Both HHH and Lesnar had a brawl weeks ago on RAW and noticeably during it Lesnar started bleeding. Whilst I feel that blood doesn't need to be added to a match, I think that it could really elevate this match if it occurred. Overall, even if the outcome is predictable it shouldn't take away from the rest of the match which will no doubt be an all out brawl.

The Undertaker vs CM Punk

This is no-doubt the most anticipated match of this year's WrestleMania. CM Punk is only just coming off an historic WWE Championship title reign and it's always a pleasure to see the Deadman work a Steak match. The Undertaker's record currently stands at an astounding number of 20-0 and many fans believe that the 20-0 could potentially turn to 20-1. Whilst Punk ending the strak seems unlikely, you never really can be sure with the WWE. I must admit that I have debated Punk potentially winning this match but I am still sticking with Undertaker for the win. A reason I don't want Punk to end the streak is because I feel that next year's main event at WrestleMania XXX (30) should be John Cena vs The Undertaker. Cena is arguably the most likely candidate to end the streak which makes the match must-see.

CM Punk vs The Undertaker is likely to steal the show at WrestleMania 29. Punk and Taker do have some history with eachother and they both had a feud over the World Heavyweight Championship back in 2009. Both guys are fantastic workers and will go out there and put on the biggest performance of their careers. This is a really important match and you cannot miss it. This match has also had the best build from all the matches in my opinion and feud feels very personal and real.

The Rock vs John Cena for the WWE Championship

The thing that springs to a lot of fans' minds when it comes to this match is 'Once In A Lifetime'. This match was the main event of last year's WrestleMania 28. The fact we're having a rematch has a lot of fans angry. I personally am happy that this rematch has happened. Whilst the atmosphere of last year's match was awesome, the match itself was a little underwhelming. I feel that both guys could look at last year's match and improve upon it this year. Also, add in the fact that the WWE Championship is on the line and this match is more important than last year. Another thing potentially hurting this match is the proposed predictable outcome of John Cena getting his redemption and beating The Rock. Whilst this scenario does seem the most likely, I feel that it shouldn't take away from the match itself, which I feel will be better than last year.

Overall

Overall, I feel if you take a closer look at this event you realize the potential that it has. The card is not finished yet and in my opinion it's already shaping up pretty well. I'd just say to try and keep a positive outlook and just sit back and enjoy WrestleMania.
