 Paul Heyman Interrupted John CenaCena controls a crowd like no other. He's a master of the mic when it comes to that type of stuff and had them every step of the way while cutting his promo. He called out Roman Reigns but got Heyman instead, creating a cliffhanger for the rest of the show as to whether Reigns would confront him. Heyman was great in the role and this was a strong segment to kick off the show. SmackDown's going to get a big boost in star power with Cena around for the next month.

 Chris Bey def. Rohit RajuBey was basically the babyface here, but I wouldn't call it a face turn considering what happened with him and the other X-Division babyfaces a week or two ago. He's probably more of a tweener than anything, especially after what happened later on in the show. As for Raju, he's been a shining star in the X-Division over the last year and the two of them had an enjoyable opener. Bey winning was the right outcome.
 Nina Samuels def. Laura Di MatteoWe haven't seen Samuels in action since February when she lost her feud to Xia Brookside and became her assistant for a month. Hey, I'm not complaining because I've personally never been a fan of hers and don't find her all that interesting. I was expecting a standard squash match, but Matteo scored plenty of offense and was impressive. I actually came away from this wanting to see more of Matteo than I did Samuels.
 Angel Garza def. Drew GulakAlthough both of these guys were heels the last time I checked, Garza was back in babyface mode for this match, which made sense given they were in Texas. He got a good reaction from the crowd, but he really should be on Raw more often. What the hell happened to his mini push from a few months ago?! Nonetheless, this was more competitive than their matches on Raw in the spring and was unsurprisingly well wrestled while it lasted.
 Chris Jericho def. Shawn SpearsThis was the first "Labor of Jericho" and Spears was legally allowed to use chairs while Jericho could not. The outcome was never in doubt, especially since Spears is the glorified loser of The Pinnacle, but they had a good match and they made the most of the stipulation. Sammy Guevara leveled the playing field, allowing Jericho to pick up the victory despite being at a disadvantage. Post-match, MJF revealed that Jericho will have a No Disqualification match next week against Nick Gage. I'm not a huge fan of that type of hardcore wrestling (and we'll see how far they actually push the envelope), but it is a cool get for AEW (if only for one night) and it sends the message that you never know who might show up on Dynamite.
