Christian hits the Killswitch on Alberto Del Rio.
By Graham "GSM" Matthews Kane Engaged The Wyatt Family in Pre-SummerSlam Free-For-All Wyatt's feud with Kane hasn't received much attention up to this point, but this was an effective promo that did a lot in getting this viewer excited for their upcoming clash at SummerSlam. It never ceases to amaze me just how compelling Wyatt is on the mic, and this promo was pure proof of that. I surely hope that The Wyatt Family getting the better of Kane in this segment doesn't mean Kane goes over on Sunday, as I think making Wyatt lose this early into this act would be a major mistake. Christian def. Damien Sandow This was a nice, competitive contest that saw Christian and Sandow coming out of it looking good. Both competitors need wins going into their respective matches at SummerSlam, but the roll-up finish protected Sandow in defeat. Alberto Del Rio's attack on Christian following the bout was well done, but was it really necessary for Christian to get the upper hand over the world champion? It makes it rather obvious that Del Rio will be going over on Sunday. Regardless, the commentators did a nice job of making mention of the fact that this might be Christian's last shot at the golden prize.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews Kazarian def. Jeff Hardy, AJ Styles and Austin Aries in a Ladder Match to Earn 20 Points in the Bound For Glory Series An absolutely awesome Ladder match that made for an electric opener. The action was intense and exciting throughout and everyone involved managed to hit their signature spots. They were a few scary spots (see: Aries powerbombing Hardy off the ladder), but that was to be expected coming from a group of extreme individuals. Bobby Roode and Christopher Daniels helping Kazarian pick up the win made the most sense and it's nice to see Kazarian with some points in the BFGS after being an afterthought for most of it. Aces and Eights Confronted Main Event Mafia First and foremost, props to Dixie Carter for handling the Kurt Angle situation in the most professional way possible. I'm glad they told the truth here instead of concurring some sort of storyline explaining his absence. It also made for a nice hook throughout the show as to who would be replacing Angle on Team Main Event Mafia. Magnus cut a decent promo and the subsequent brawl helped hype the huge matchup for next week. Aces and Eights getting the better of Main Event Mafia was smart booking, as they in desperate need of heat at the moment and enhances the fact that they have strength in numbers.
Alberto Del Rio locks in the armbar on Cody Rhodes.
By Graham "GSM" Matthews World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio def. Cody Rhodes (Non-title) This was a great match that featured plenty of exciting action and showcased both Superstars' amazing abilities. Rhodes hasn't changed much as a character since turning face (it's high time he shaves off that damn mustache), but he garnered a surprisingly strong reaction from this live crowd. Del Rio was aggressive as usual and the many counters down the stretch made the final few minutes very suspenseful. I didn't expect Rhodes to go over the world champion, but he still looked good in defeat. The Usos def. Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre 3MB means next to nothing, so I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that the live crowd wasn't completely dead for this match. It was fine for what it was, but since The Usos were on offense for a majority of the match, the focus was primarily on building them up (as it should be). The finish was well done and gave The Usos another nice victory under their belt. It's good to see that they are still over with the audience despite no longer being in the tag title picture. By Daniel Barker Wrestling fans across the globe welcome to the debut edition of the Esoteric Anomaly right here on Next Era Wrestling! Allow me to introduce myself; my name is Daniel Barker from the United Kingdom and some fans may have seen other articles I’ve posted about pro wrestling else where; if not please be rest assured that the work done here is exclusive to this community only! Without further ado let’s get this column rolling, shall we? I’ll begin by stating that WWE RAW this week showed some real promising signs that a new phase could be soon underway. There was an increased volume of potential that outshined the usual expected drool that’s flaunted on the television screen like a half-baked thought each week. Around the three quarter mark through the show; I had a positive feeling about the general outlook on the shows structuring. I quite literally posted an article last week slating how the WWE fails to invest enough effort into promoting the other championships to improve their selling point influence. |
