![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens and Big Cass Discussed the Fatal 4-Way WWE Universal Championship Elimination Match WWE had very little time to build up this bout following last week's qualifying matches, so this was effective in making the match more meaningful than it already was. It allowed everyone to establish why they wanted to become champion, and although Reigns didn't speak at all, it worked out well because he was the last man standing, anyway. I'm typically not found of dick jokes in wrestling, but admittedly, the one Cass (who held his own on the mic nicely without Enzo Amore) made at Rollins' expense was pretty hilarious. A solid segment to open the evening. Chris Jericho def. Neville This was the barn-burner of a bout I was hoping we would see between these two earlier this year yet that match didn't met my lofty expectations. The in-ring action here was exciting, they were given great time, and it was another opportunity for Neville to showcase his skills and prove just how good he is. Sure, I was a bit disappointed it was never once acknowledged that it was in a match with Jericho back in March that Neville got hurt, but that's nitpicking. The Liontamer to finish Neville off was a nice touch because he was the perfect size for it.

![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews #AskGSM is a weekly Q&A video where I, Graham "GSM" Matthews answer fan questions from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in regards to the world of wrestling. Nothing is off limits, and this week’s edition touches upon a variety of topics including:
![]() By RJ Marceau After Finn Balor went down with his shoulder injury, the WWE was fast to implement a new plan to crown a new champion. Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns and Enzo & Cass came down to the ring to plead their case to be the new champion. I could understand Owens, Rollins, Jericho and Reigns making a case for the title but what has Enzo & Cass done to earn a WWE Universal title match? I know Vince loves Cass due to his size but he has no business pursuing the United States Championship either. The WWE will probably go with the easy and predictable route with either Seth Rollins or Roman Reigns winning the title. I am a big fan of Rollins so it’s hard saying don’t give it to Rollins but the WWE has failed to make new big stars in recent years. Since “The Shield” broke up the WWE has only really focused on them as the new faces or stars of the company. I know people will say they were going to push Finn Balor but reports say that if Reigns didn’t get suspended then it would have been Reigns vs. Rollins for the WWE Championship. Balor was supposed to face Chris Jericho before the suspension. ![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Jack Swagger def. Jinder Mahal Prior to the taping, I was talking to my good friend Seth Guttenplan and we were joking about who we would see on Superstars. Lo and behold, Swagger was the first one to come out when the show started. The match was hardly anything of note, and as solid as Swagger is, Mahal simply bores me to tears. It wasn't a bad bout, but it hardly held my interest. If nothing else, the match was kept relatively brief and didn't overstay its welcome. The Golden Truth def. Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel I cared so little about Golden Truth (whose entrance I did not partake in by the way) coming out that I literally left to go to the bathroom as soon as the match got underway. Unfortunately, it was still going on by the time I got back. What I saw of it was all right, and there were a few entertaining antics from both tandems, so it wasn't a complete bust. If Dallas and Axel are going to continue to team without Heath Slater, why not call themselves The Social Outcasts again? ![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Mike Bennett Won a No. 1 Contender's Battle Royal For the TNA World Heavyweight Championship This was your typical Battle Royal that featured a bunch of wrestlers you knew had no chance of winning, so admittedly, I paid little attention until the final few. In the meantime, Lashley entertained me greatly on commentary. My interest piqued when it came down to Bennett, Moose and Eddie Edwards, and although you could tell where it was going from there, I liked how it played out. I know people will ask why they're already teasing tension between Bennett and Moose, but Moose should have been a fan favorite from the get-go, so I'm fine with them likely facing off at Bound for Glory. World Tag Team Champion Abyss def. Brother Nero Yes, the pre-match promo between the Hardys and Decay was every bit as weird as you would expect from them, but it was glorious. I didn't enjoy the match for its in-ring action but rather for the hilarious antics of Matt Hardy and the others at ringside. I was surprised to see Abyss go over, but it made sense because the Hardys are already established and Decay will need some momentum in this feud. |
