TJP def. Calvin Tankman in an Opera Cup Semifinal MatchSpeaking as someone who is still relatively new to the MLW product, Tankman will absolutely be one to watch going forward. The kid has a ton of potential and has had quality matches with a variety of opponents so far, including TJP here. This was an enjoyable opener with the interference from Alex Kane protecting Tankman in defeat and sending TJP to the finals. The crowd was very much behind Tankman during this one.

Jordan Devlin def. Mark AndrewsSince these two wrestle similar styles, I knew this would be fun and I'm glad it was positioned as the opener. They got a decent amount of time and worked as well together as I expected them to. Devlin needs more wins to get back to where he was earlier this year before losing the NXT Cruiserweight Championship, so this was a good start. I'm curious if Subculture losing so frequently will lead to anything or if they're just helping elevate others at the moment.
Mansoor def. Drew GulakEven though they're on SmackDown now, Mansoor and Gulak just can't escape Main Event it seems. In all seriousness, I believe they only appeared on this episode because the entire WWE roster was apparently on hand for Monday's Raw and thus they were used for the Main Event taping. It looked like WWE was going to give Mansoor a prolonged push coming out of Crown Jewel, but he's barely been featured in recent weeks. At the very least, he got to beat Gulak here, for whatever that's worth. This was far from the most thrilling outing, but it was well wrestled while it last.
CM Punk and MJF Engaged in a War of Words; Punk def. QT MarshallWhen Punk confronted MJF last week, I was really excited for their first promo battle. I thought they would wait a while and tease it before finally giving it to us, so I was surprised it happened here. I can't complain, though, as this was a stellar segment with fantastic mic work from both men. MJF was exceptional as always and we got to see Punk fired up for a change. Both of them had such great lines that I was left wondering if the program peaked early with this segment. I guess time will tell. The subsequent match between Punk and Marshall was completely inconsequential and it shouldn't have taken Punk as long as it did to defeat Marshall, but I suppose it served to give Punk another win.
