With Adam Cole's contract with WWE set to expire this Friday, rumors about his eventual whereabouts have been floating around, making him once again among the top talked about wrestlers in the industry. Thanks to a few hints and teases left by the AEW roster, and Cole himself, there may now be legitimate reason to believe he will be AEW's next biggest signee. Also, before we move forward with the list, please note that this is NOT necessarily ranked in order and with that in mind there is plenty to be hopeful about to see if this does actually come to fruition. So, from a Bullet Club revival in AEW, to The Young Bucks and more tag team glory there is much to be expected and excited about even if it's still a fantasy at this point. So, without further ado, here is the list.. The Bullet Club and Kenny OmegaIf you have been following his career for a while, then you know how well his history has been for the most part, pretty well documented (except by WWE), and that he has history with several members of the AEW roster. It is also well noted how Adam Cole has been the leader of most of the stables he's been a part of. On May 8th, 2016, at Global Wars, Cole joined Bullet Club in a show-closing angle. In 2017, Cole began showing tension with stablemate (and now AEW World Champion) Kenny Omega, leaving The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) caught in the crossfire of it all. Omega drew the fire on Cole, leading The Young Bucks and giving their former friend the superkick exit from the group. In conjunction to this lengthy history and fictitious history, Kenny Omega and Adam Cole are two of the hottest and most successful stars in wrestling right now. It would be a dream scenario for many wrestling fans to see them continue what they started in ROH, and of course the matches these two will produce are going to be nothing short of gold! The feud(s) and promos would be gold, and make for very entertaining television on a weekly basis for Dynamite and or Rampage. Unfaced Opponent: Chris JerichoAs it has already been stated, Adam Cole has a well documented history with a plenitude of top stars from AEW from his time across the indy circuit and WWE NXT. However, arguably the greatest accumulative roster piece for All Elite Wrestling who hasn't encountered Adam Cole in the ring anywhere is inaugural champion, Chris Jericho. This would be good from an in-ring perspective and makes sense. Jericho has been consistent about working with talent that he hasn't worked with yet and putting them over. Why not put Cole over in this? (Although it's been noticeable as of late that his (Jericho's) in-ring game has been slacking some.) I still think, with Cole doing most of the work, there is no reason to believe they couldn't put on a good, maybe even great, match despite Jericho's recent stagnate in ring work. AEW's Tag Team Division and the Goldmine of OpportunitiesThroughout his career, it's no secret that he's had a knack for leading stables, the latest being The Undisputed Era in WWE's gold and yellow brand. The opportunities that would await him to head yet another tag team would be big; the tag team division in AEW is a goldmine and one that he would only add to. Also, I'm interested to see what happens to longtime and now former stablemate Bobby Fish, who was among the 13 recently released from NXT. On a side note, I hope to see the same theme song or at least a similar one, unless WWE has full rights over it. World Championship Gold ContentionWe do know that Cole's time on NXT is up, and so it is my fear that if he doesn't make the jump from WWE to AEW, he is going to get tossed into the sea of jobbers on Raw or SmackDown and not recover from it or from the lack of push and direction as has been the case with others from his fellow NXT members on the main roster.
With that being said, I don't have very much confidence that Vince is really behind the idea of having him contend for championship gold; Tony Khan however, I do trust in this regard. I mean, the track record and signings speak for itself. We all want to see Cole continue to succeed because he has what it takes and it would be a shame to see that not be utilized to its full potential. He deserves to be champion wherever he is, so why not head to All Elite Wrestling?
